As the blockchain gaming ecosystem evolves, companies are striving to leverage this momentum by forging alliances to attract more gamers and introduce them to the world of Web3.
Immutable recently announced on March 8 that it had onboarded 75 Web3 games in the last three months, bringing the total number of blockchain-based games on its platform to 270.
In response to this significant growth in the gaming ecosystem, OKX, a leading cryptocurrency exchange, has entered the Web3 gaming space through a partnership with Immutable. Jason Lau, OKX’s Chief Innovation Officer, expressed that the exchange is committed to expanding the Web3 gaming ecosystem in collaboration with Immutable.
Lau highlighted the benefits of Web3 technology for gamers, emphasizing features such as true ownership and innovation in gaming mechanics and business models. He emphasized that Web3 enables gamers to own, trade, and earn from in-game assets, enhancing their overall gaming experience and fostering community involvement.
OKX and Immutable are working on launching a GameFi launchpad to sustain the momentum of Web3 gaming adoption. This launchpad will facilitate the launch of gaming projects on Immutable’s zero-knowledge Ethereum Virtual Machine (zkEVM) chain.
Lau explained that the upcoming launchpad will enhance discoverability and access to upcoming Web3 games, experiences, and assets, benefiting the crypto community. Games launching on the Immutable chain will have access to OKX’s suite of solutions, including its exchange, wallet, and non-fungible token marketplace.
Furthermore, the OKX Wallet service will be integrated with Immutable Passport, a login method developed by the Web3 game publisher for games within its ecosystem.
Lau stressed the importance of blockchain gaming firms in onboarding gamers into Web3, urging them to focus on creating unique game mechanics and cultivating strong communities around each game. He emphasized that games must be enjoyable, engaging, and of high quality to attract and sustain a community. Additionally, Lau highlighted the importance of educating players about the benefits of Web3 technology.
